Landscape areas

In Finland there are 156 landscape areas which have been defined by the Finnish Government (1995) as nationally valuable. The total area of the landscapes is 730,000 hectares. The majority of the landscape areas are located on the cultivated areas of Southern and Western Finland.

 

There are 11 nationally valuable landscape areas on the Bothnian Coast Road and in its vicinity.

  4. Härkmeri– Kristiinankaupunki
  5. Övermalax- Åminne, Maalahti, Mustasaari

  7. Sulvan Söderfjärden– Vaasa, Mustasaari, Maalahti
  8. Vanha Vaasa -Vaasa
  9. Vöyrinjoki River Valley – Vöyri
  10. Björköby – Mustasaari
  11. Liminka plain – Liminka
  12. Simojoen suun kulttuurimaisemat – Simo
  13. Tornionjokilaakso – Torni ja Ylitornio
